NSv Series
The virtual next-generation firewall for public cloud and virtualized data centres.
SonicWall NSv Series is the virtualized form of the SonicWall next-generation firewall, protecting public cloud and virtualized data-centre workloads with the same SonicOSX security as physical appliances. It brings Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection, Capture ATP, and full threat prevention to AWS, Azure, VMware, KVM, and Hyper-V. Faltrox deploys, automates, and operates it as software-defined network defence.
Overview
What NSv Series is
As workloads move to public cloud and virtualized data centres, a physical firewall cannot follow them — but the security still has to. The NSv Series is SonicWall’s virtual firewall: the full SonicOSX next-generation firewall packaged as a virtual appliance that deploys where workloads run, from AWS and Azure to VMware, KVM, and Hyper-V.
It delivers the same protection as the physical appliances — RFDPI, intrusion prevention, gateway anti-malware, application control, TLS inspection, and Capture ATP cloud sandboxing with RTDMI — so policy is consistent across physical and virtual estates. It segments east-west traffic between virtual workloads and integrates with cloud automation. Managed through Capture Security Center or Network Security Manager alongside physical firewalls, it extends consistent security into the cloud. Faltrox deploys it, automates its lifecycle, and operates it as unified physical-and-virtual defence.

What it protects
The platforms, threats, and surfaces this product is built to defend.
Public Clouds
Protects workloads in AWS and Azure with the full SonicWall NGFW.
Virtualized Data Centres
Secures VMware, KVM, and Hyper-V virtualized environments.
East-West Segmentation
Segments traffic between virtual workloads to contain lateral movement.
Deep Packet Inspection
RFDPI inspects every byte of every packet in virtual and cloud environments.
Unknown Threats
Capture ATP with RTDMI catches evasive and never-before-seen threats.
Consistent Policy
Same policy as physical firewalls, managed from one console.
How it works
The mechanism
How the product moves from signal to protected state, step by step.
- 01
Deploy
The NSv is deployed as a virtual appliance into AWS, Azure, VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V.
- 02
Inspect
RFDPI inspects every byte of every packet in the virtual or cloud environment, identical to physical firewalls.
- 03
Detonate
Suspicious files route to the Capture ATP cloud sandbox, where RTDMI forces malware to expose its weaponry.
- 04
Segment
East-west segmentation between virtual workloads contains lateral movement in the cloud.
- 05
Operate
Faltrox automates its lifecycle and operates it as part of unified physical-and-virtual defence.

Managed by Faltrox
Faltrox licenses, deploys, and tunes SonicWall NSv Series for your environment, then runs it as part of a managed service, so you get the protection without staffing another security console.
FAQ
Common questions
01How is the NSv different from a physical SonicWall firewall?
It is the same SonicOSX next-generation firewall packaged as a virtual appliance, so it enforces identical policy and threat prevention — but it deploys where physical hardware cannot: into AWS, Azure, and hypervisors, following workloads wherever they run.
02Which platforms does it run on?
Public clouds AWS and Azure, and virtualized environments VMware ESXi, KVM, and Hyper-V — so it covers both cloud and on-premises virtualized data centres from one product.
03Can we manage it alongside our physical firewalls?
Yes — the same Capture Security Center or Network Security Manager manages physical and virtual firewalls together with consistent policy, so your physical and virtual estates are operated as one. Faltrox runs that unified management.
04Does it catch unknown threats like the physical models?
Yes — it integrates the same Capture ATP cloud sandbox with patented RTDMI, so it catches evasive, fileless, and never-before-seen threats in virtual and cloud environments just as the physical appliances do.
05How does Faltrox operate it?
We deploy and automate the NSv in your clouds and virtual data centres, build the policy consistent with your physical estate, enable Capture ATP, and monitor it — delivering unified physical-and-virtual network defence.
