    What Secure Firewall 1000 Series is

    The Secure Firewall 1000 Series addresses use cases from the small office to the midsize branch with a family of compact firewall platforms that keep full threat defence enabled without collapsing performance. It runs Cisco Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) or ASA software, so an organisation standardises on one firewall operating model from the smallest site upward.

    It combines next-generation firewall, next-generation IPS (Snort 3), application visibility and control, URL filtering, and malware defence, backed by Cisco Talos threat intelligence and integration with Cisco XDR. Management runs through the on-premises Firewall Management Center or cloud-delivered Security Cloud Control, so a branch firewall enforces the same policy as the enterprise. Faltrox deploys it, builds and tunes the policy, and operates it as part of the managed network defence.

    01Where does the 1000 Series fit in the range?

    It is the small-office-to-branch tier — compact desktop and 1RU appliances. For mid-range Internet-edge to data-centre use the 3100 Series steps up; the 4200 and 6100 serve large enterprise and data centre. Faltrox sizes the firewall to each site.

    02FTD or ASA — which software?

    Both are supported. Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) is the modern threat-focused image with Snort 3 IPS and unified management; ASA is the classic firewall image. Most new deployments use FTD, and Faltrox recommends based on your environment and existing estate.

    03Can it see into encrypted traffic without decrypting everything?

    Yes — the Encrypted Visibility Engine identifies threats in encrypted traffic without the performance cost of full decryption, which matters on a compact branch appliance where decryption overhead would otherwise limit throughput.

    04How is a branch firewall managed consistently with the rest?
