    Catalyst 8300 Series

High-performance SASE edge platforms for the medium and large branch.

Cisco Catalyst 8300 Series Edge Platforms deliver high WAN IPsec performance with integrated Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN for medium-sized and large enterprise branches. Multicore processors, embedded IPsec hardware acceleration, and up to 9.3 Gbps of IMIX IPsec throughput make them the step up from the 8200 where scale matters. Trustworthy Solutions 2.0 secures the platform. Faltrox deploys, secures, and manages them.

    Overview

    What Catalyst 8300 Series is

The Catalyst 8300 Series is the high-performance member of the Catalyst 8000 edge family, built for medium-sized and large enterprise branches that need serious WAN IPsec throughput alongside integrated SD-WAN. It uses 8- or 12-core processors with up to 32 GB of memory and a dynamic core-allocation architecture that shifts cores between data plane and service plane as configured.

Embedded IPsec VPN hardware acceleration and SSL/crypto acceleration deliver up to 9.3 Gbps of IPsec IMIX traffic, scaling encrypted branch connectivity well beyond the 8200. It runs the same programmable IOS XE SD-WAN with API automation and zero-touch provisioning, provides built-in Layer 3 Ethernet ports plus flexible modules, and is secured by Trustworthy Solutions 2.0. Faltrox deploys it, builds the SD-WAN fabric and security, and operates the branch edge.

    How it works

    The mechanism

How the product moves from signal to protected state, step by step.

    1. 01

      Provision

Zero-touch provisioning brings the branch platform into the SD-WAN fabric without on-site configuration.

    2. 02

      Connect

IOS XE SD-WAN connects the branch over any transport, with dynamic core allocation tuning data and service planes.

    3. 03

      Accelerate

Embedded IPsec and crypto hardware acceleration deliver up to 9.3 Gbps of encrypted branch traffic.

    4. 04

      Secure

Integrated multilayer security and SASE services protect the higher-scale branch, verified by Trustworthy Solutions 2.0.

    5. 05

      Operate

Faltrox configures the fabric, policy, and security, and manages the branch edge in ongoing operations.

    FAQ

    Common questions

01How does the 8300 differ from the 8200?

The 8300 is the high-performance tier — 8/12-core processors, up to 32 GB memory, embedded IPsec hardware acceleration, and up to 9.3 Gbps of IPsec IMIX throughput — for medium and large branches. The 8200 targets small and medium branches at optimal price/performance. Faltrox scopes the right model per site.

    02What is dynamic core allocation?

The multicore architecture can shift CPU cores between the data plane (I/O) and the service plane per your configuration, so the platform tunes its resources to your mix of forwarding and services rather than fixing them.

03Why does embedded IPsec acceleration matter?

It delivers high encrypted throughput (up to 9.3 Gbps IMIX) without loading the general CPU, so a large branch can run fully encrypted SD-WAN connectivity at scale without a performance penalty.

04Is it part of a SASE architecture?

Yes — it runs integrated Catalyst SD-WAN and converges with cloud-delivered security (like Umbrella) on a SASE-enabled architecture, so branch security is delivered from the cloud rather than a separate on-site stack.

    05How does Faltrox operate it?

We deploy the branch platforms, build the SD-WAN fabric and security policy, integrate cloud security, and manage and monitor the branch edge as part of the secure network we run for you.
